Michele Alacevich and Andrea Costa examine the strong interrelations between urban planning and economic planning that developed in the early 1950s in Latin America, where arguably the multifaceted programming effort of the post-Second World War era gained its greater momentum. The plan was considered the main tool, common to economic as well as to urban policies, while equilibrium was the principal concept which framed the elaboration and the implementation of any development plan.
